No there was no arena. Just a slap-dash plan that had nothing behind it. No site, blueprints, or funding. Also it was brought out in March of 97, a month before the end of the season. Raleigh, on the other hand, had a plan that was "shovel ready" to borrow a phrase. As for the "fan base". Averaging 12,000 for 18 seasons is not much of a base. Plus having you "base" being split by NY and Boston did not help.

What "truth"? Who is tell the "truth"? I guess all the whimpering we have done has snowed too many people into thinking this place cared. We got the crap end because we screwed ourselves. I still have not seen anything that convinces me that a team would come back and be successful.

Jim Rutherford has said that perhaps Greensboro was not the best move. He has stated that they could have done something temporary in Raleigh while the arena was being built.

There is nothing that could convince me because we have proven we cannot. Being between NY and Boston is too much of a barrier. This state is too divided among ourselves to make it work. The Ranger and Bruin fans that did not switch for the 18 NHL years are not going to change for a second team.

So you state your are now a fan of the Montreal Canadiens. So in addition to being delusional you are also a pussie (this board censors the correct spelling). Because only a pussie would switch to being a Montreal fan. After all their fans are pussies so anyone that becomes one of them is also a pussie. You posted earlier that Hurricanes fans were arrogant. So you join up with the most arrogant fans in the league. Yes, even more so than Boston and NY. Just more proof there were no rivalries here.
